Daddy/Lyla Weekend

Last Friday and Saturday I did something I had never done before, left my baby girl for the night. I along with four girls I used to teach with at LHS got out of town Friday and Saturday. While it was a very nice getaway with some great friends, I was surprised how hard it was to leave. I won't lie there were some tears shed, however, I don't think I was missed as much as I missed her! Daddy had so much fun spoiling her. On Friday he took her to the City Museum where they had fun in the aquarium and splashing in a fountain (he even put a bow on her head before they left!!). Saturday he took her to the park where they met some friends for a picnic.

I got home late Saturday afternoon just as Lyla was waking up from her nap. At first I got the initial reaction I had longed for. Her hands and arms shaking in excitement, the biggest smile on her sweet little face, and the best hug I could imagine. Then it happened. She looked at me, let out a little whine and reached out for Daddy. WHAT??? This continued all night and the next day. At church she would only sit on my lap for a minute until she would reach for Daddy. Are you serious? Who feeds you? Who wakes up in the middle of the night to take care of you? Then I realized something. How lucky is this little girl to have a father who absolutely adores her? How lucky am I to have a husband who is such an amazing, hands-on father to our sweet girl? I'm so grateful for Heath and all he does for our family. He made it possible for me to get some much needed girl time and made an amazing weekend for Lyla. It still was hard to swallow though! :)

Here are some pictures of their weekend together:
