Heath had to be in Indianapolis to work a lab on Friday and Saturday and since that was Kately's 1st birthday, we decided to tag along and make a weekend out of it. We headed up Thursday night -- which leads me to a funny story -- Heath had a dinner at St. Elmo's which was just down the street from our hotel which was the Hilton Indianapolis Hotel and Suites. I dropped him off and headed to our hotel, checked us in and put the girls to bed. I sent Heath a text letting him know our hotel was literally a few blocks down from where he was so he wouldn't need a cab later. He said, "the Hilton, right?" I said yes and told him we were room 617 but to let me know when he was at the door and I would let him in so he wouldn't wake the girls. A few minutes later I get a text from him informing me he was here. I looked out the peep hole and didn't see him. I said, "617, right?" and he replied with this picture:
To which I replied with this picture:
Long story short, he had gone to the Hilton Garden Inn which was just around the Monument Circle. However the best part was when he walked through the lobby he stopped by the Market and picked up some trail mix and had it charged to room 617 (the wrong one)...but then didn't think about it until later!
On Friday, Kately's actual birthday, Heath got up early to head to the lab so I took the girls to the Indianapolis Zoo. We had a great time walking around looking at the animals, went to the dolphin show and then rode the carousel...which was kind of tough with two little ones by myself.
Happy 1st Birthday, sweet girl!!
Someone loved the hotel life!
A little blurry but getting some birthday love from sis
Ready to go!
This girl loves her elephants!
After the zoo we went back to the hotel for naps and then walked around Monument Circle and waited for Daddy to meet us for dinner.
After dinner we went back to the hotel for presents and swimming
Then the next morning we were so lucky that my whole family drove down to meet us at the Indianapolis Children's Museum. I don't think I have been here since I was a kid and I could not believe how much had changed. The girls had so much fun at the museum with their cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Thanks everyone for meeting us!!

I think my girls could have spent all day at the water and sand tables

Kately Rene,
I cannot believe a year has gone by already! You have brought so much joy and laughter to our lives. I love your sweet, snuggly nature. I love how everyone thinks you are so serious but you really are an ornery, silly little girl. You love playing with your sister, reading books, wrestling Daddy, and bedtime snuggles with Mommy. I pray that you will always know how loved you are. Happy first birthday, my little angel!!
