The Polar Express

When I found out the Polar Express was coming to St. Louis I tried twice with no luck for tickets. The third and final time they added a few more dates and times I tried for 20 minutes and finally got seats 5 minutes before they sold out again. While I know this is crazy because our children are so young, I am so glad we did it. Lyla was amazed! We had read the Polar Express several times and watched the movie twice before we went so she had some idea of what was going on. She loved riding the train, seeing Santa and dancing with the conductor. It was such a special night that I will always remember - I may have even teared up a few times throughout the evening!

Kately with her golden ticket

Lyla writing her note to Santa before she mailed it to the North Pole

There she is!

Waiting to board

All aboard!

Lyla's favorite part was when the conductor punched her ticket like they do in the movie

Ready to go

Leaving Union Station

After we left the station they served us hot chocolate and cookies while they read the story

We arrived at the North Pole!! The train went just past the arch near the landing where they had the North Pole set up and we could see Santa outside the window. I wish this wasn't blurry, the conductor was dancing with Lyla

Santa came aboard!!

They were very surprised to see Santa on the train :)

Just like in the movie, he gave each kid a bell

The whole way back to Union Station they played Christmas music and all of the characters/workers danced down the aisle of the train with the kids. Then as if they knew my daughter was on board, the last song they played was none other than "Let it Go!" Every little girl sang at the top of their lungs and Lyla went nuts! Such a fun evening. It is moments like this that I will cherish always. There is nothing like seeing the magic of Christmas through your children's eyes. I really hope I can get tickets again next year!
